Musical and Theatre Restaurants

Musical

Students from Year 5 to 12 are invited to audition for the College Musical which takes place biennially at the Dalby Great Hall. There are no guidelines as to who can audition or previous experience needed and many exciting emerging performers are discovered as the weeks and months of rehearsals take place and the show comes together for opening night. The entire cast and crew is made up of students and anyone with a talent in lighting, hair styling, make-up, costume design, singing, acting or dancing is encouraged to take part. There is a role for any student who is keen to be a part of an amazing musical production. The Year 9 and 10 Visual Art students design and paint the props and create advertising as part of their creative curriculum assessment for Semester 1 while the INTAD department plays an important part in building props and set pieces. The Musical production stages over three amazing nights with many members of the community enjoying the talent and dedication of staff and students at OLSCC.

Theatre Restaurant

Students who study Music and Music Extension use the biennial Theatre Restaurant as part of their assessment and along with the support of other students who make up the cast, this event is a popular and entertaining date on the OLSCC calendar. In 2018, the cast, under the direction of Mrs Libby Baxter, performed the comedic show, 'A Knight to Remember' which was a mixed up tale of wacky love interests confused by the bubbling potions of Merlin the Wizard. In the end, everyone ends up with the right partner but the show took many twists and turns along the way and there was plenty of opportunity for the audience to have a laugh. Guests enjoyed the show while dining on a delicious two course meal prepared by College tuckshop convenor, Mrs Cathy Crump.
